What I've been Cooking

This weekend was a busy weekend getting items made for my sale on Thursday this week. I did have to call in reinforcements and have my mom come in and help my on Saturday. Thank God for mom's, they are always there when you need help. Here's some photos of the aprons we completed on Saturday, we were really cooking.

Vist Us this Summer

I am happy to announce that Rerun Design has been invited to be a vendor at the Country Market in Rosemount, Minnesota. This event will be part of the Bluegrass Americana Festival on July 21st. The Country Market will be open from 11:00am until 9:00pm and will feature 30 vendors. I will post more information as the date gets closer.

Marketing Materials are In

The last of my marketing materials arrive this weekend! Now I have my new business cards, packaging stickers and hanging tags.

I am very excited to have have my items with my new logo image on them. My new business cards have my new QR code on the back that link to my Etsy shop. I will be curious to see how many people will use the QR code.

My hanging tags for my merchanise you will notice are very similar to my business cards. I took the same design and changed the wording on it slightly. Then I printed them like you would a business card. To finish them I took and punched a hole in it and added ribbon. It was a much less expensive option then purchasing a hanging tag. I am not sure why they are so expensive and minimums are so high, but they are. This is my value priced option.

For my bags, I picked up white translucent bags at a local warehouse sale, along with some turquoise tissue paper. I will be adding my 1.5"dia cirlce sticker to front of the bags. Next time however, I think I will be ordering the larger stickers. These are slightly smaller then I would have liked, but they will work.

I think I am now all set with my marketing materials.

Productive Day

Today was a very productive day in getting things ready for the spring boutique. I was able to check a few items off my to do list. Today I purchased a two tier garment rack for $15.00 and I purchased a new camera. Needless to say the camera was a lot more than $15.00, but it was a muchneeded investment. My husband did some camera research for me and recommended that I purchase the Cannon_EOS Digital Rebel T3. I like it so far, we will see how it goes.

I also recieved me long awaited garment labels that I ordered off Etsy. I had been making my own, but after some research I found it was less expensive and less time to have someone make them for me. I ended up purchasing mine from Hobby Time. From them, I was able to purchase 60 custom black and White labels for $12.80, plus $6.75 on shipping. That breaks down to be about $0.30 each.

Getting my Ducks on a Row for the Shows

It's been a very busy week around our house and I did have panic attack when I realized I miss counted weeks before my spring boutique at the Wild Ruffle Pop Up Shop on May 3rd. Realizing that I miss counted do send me in hurry up mode to get all my items lined up for the upcoming show.

Here is a list of the items I have completed for the show

• ordered new business cards with my new logo and QR code on them, they should arrive tomorrow
• ordered a banner for my tables, also arriving tomorrow
• purchased bags, decorative tissue paper and stickers for packaging purchases
• ordered garment tags, which I am hoping will arrive soon
• found some new display items at second hand stores and I have repainted them to work with my color scheme
• cleaned up and touched up the paint on my past display items

If you curious where I had my marketing materials printed, I used Vista Print. They are very easy to use and normally you can find a ton of discount codes for them on line. I found one for 50% off everything from Retail Me Not. They only down side is one you start using them, they will send you tons of promotional emails.

Items I still have left to do

• tag and price the items I will be selling
• create and print tent signs for the items I will be displaying on my table
• purchase a rolling clothes rack
• figure out which displays are going with which items
• update my Etsy shop
• purchase a new camera
• sew LOT for items!

I am sure I am forgetting something that I left to do. Oh well, time to go get stuff done.

What are QR codes and I can get one for free?

A few weeks ago I remade my image and marketing materials for Rerun Design and one item I really wanted to add was a QR code. I wanted to be able to have a QR code on the back of my business card and this code would lead shoppers to my Etsy Shopjust by scanning it with their cell phone. But, first I had to figure out what a QR code was. All I knew was, that if you scanned this black and white box on some marketing literature it took you their website. With that horrible description my husband was able to figure out what I was asking for and lead me in the right direction. He informed me that what I was talking about was a QR code.

What is a QR Code?

QR codes are a automated, digital and shortcut ways to give and receive a piece information such as; a website, text file, email address or coupon. In order the access the codes you or your customer will need a QR reader application on their cell phone. Once you have a QR reader installed you simply need to hold out your phone and point it at the QR code. Once the QR is read the wesbite, text or coupon will pop up on your phone.

How do I get my own QR code?

At this time there are lots of sites out their offering free QR codes. To find one of these site just search "QR Code Generator" and your options will be endless. The generator I used was Kaywa and it was pretty simple to do.

Here's the steps-

-Click on the link above

-Type in your website URL

-Choose the QR code size

-Click on "generate"

Now you have your QR code and you are all set to add it to any marketing materials. I added it to the back of my business cards.

Updated Vintage 1975

On Easter I had the joy of digging through my moms sewing room. My mother has been sewing for along as I can remember. With her great sewing knowledge, also comes with a wonderful collection of fabrics and vintage patterns. Recently I have been on a mission to find new patterns for aprons, so while digging through her room I looked through her patterns. While digging I did find one 1975 girls smock pattern that I thought with a few changes it would make a cute smock style apron.

This one I changed the trim and ties on the side slightly, but I kept the basic shape.

This one I changed the trim and ties, but I also removed the pocket. I tried it with a pocket, but it broke up the fun pattern too much.

This one I thought needed softer lines with the sweet rose pattern. To soften the look I replaced the fabric ties with ribbon and rounded the corners on the bottom.

I am very happy that my mom decided to keep all her patterns, they are so much fin to dig through. Who knows which one I will try next.

Original Art on a Budget

I can not tell you how excited I was to come across this art company while reading my Country Living magazine. When it came to decorating my my own home I felt like my affordable art options were limited. I probably felt so limited because I very much dislike the mass produced art you can purchase at the big box stores, but I can not afford originals. Well, until now I could not afford originals. The company mentioned in the magazine was Zatista, which sells original oils, watercolors, and illustrations by emerging artists. Prices for their pieces start as low at $25.00 and go up from there. On their website you can search by medium, type, style, keyword and price point. The following are a few I found while searching that caught my eye.
